Job Description: Part-Time Firefighter
Location: Warren County, Kentucky
Department: Fire Department (Various Stations)
Reports To: County Fire Coordinator or Designee
Compensation: Based on role and qualifications (see Pay Rates)
Position Summary:
Warren County Fire Department is seeking highly qualified and dedicated individuals to serve as Part-Time Firefighters. This role offers the opportunity to support public safety and emergency response operations in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to fire, medical, rescue, and hazardous material emergencies.
- Operate firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist in fire suppression, ventilation, salvage, overhaul, and basic life support operations.
- Maintain equipment, facilities, and readiness status.
- Follow departmental protocols and chain of command.
- Work under the supervision of a designated Unit Officer (“Captain”).
- Complete required training, including online courses on EEO, bloodborne pathogens, and harassment awareness.
- Participate in regular drills and SCBA familiarization.
Work Schedule:
- Shifts: 0730 – 1730 or otherwise advised
- Up to three (3) 10-hour shifts per week
- Scheduled via a virtual staffing platform
- Will not be assigned to work alone
- Must work at designated station with the potential for relocation
Qualifications:
- Required:
- KY Firefighter Number (KYFires)
- KY Certified Firefighter (115 hr. or 150 hr.) and/or IFSAC Firefighter I
- Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations
- NIMS/ICS: 100, 200, 700, 800
- Current CPR certification
- Preferred:
- KY Certified Firefighter (300 hr. or 400 hr.) and/or IFSAC Firefighter II
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
- Fire Officer I Certification
- Additional technical rescue and apparatus operations training
Specialized Roles & Additional Qualifications:
- Engineer:
- Must meet Firefighter qualifications
- 12 months experience operating heavy apparatus with confirmation letter
- Valid KY driver’s license
- Clean driving record (last 3 years)
- Completion of Warren County Driving Requirements
- Unit Officer (Captain):
- Meets Firefighter qualifications
- KY Certified Firefighter (300 hr. or 400 hr.) or IFSAC Firefighter II
Pay Rates:
- Firefighter (non-medical): $15.00/hr
- Firefighter/EMR: $16.00/hr
- Firefighter/EMT: $18.50/hr
- Engineer: $21.00/hr
- Unit Officer (FF only): $20.00/hr
- Unit Officer (FF + EMR or EMT): $22.50/hr
- *Note: Pay is based on the position filled during a shift, not tied to the employee’s certification alone.*
